A few days left before the presentation of Rolls-Royce Cullinan, therefore the British company reminds us again about the upcoming SUV. This time, a teaser was published, which shows the rear lights of the luxury crossover. The Rolls-Royce Cullinan SUV is finally going to debut this week on May 10, which the brand calls “the most anticipated Rolls-Royce of all time.”
Rolls-Royce is one of the very few remaining automakers without an SUV, and this is about to hop on the high-riding bandwagon with the Cullinan. But everything will change this Thursday – Cullinan will debut on May 10.
Since the Cullinan is a Rolls-Royce, expect everything about the SUV to be over the top. Even entering through the rear doors will be dramatic with its rear suicide doors.
Although there is still no official information, it’s believed that the Cullinan will ride on Rolls-Royce new platform it developed for the all-new Phantom. The vehicle will also likely use the same 563 hp 6.75-liter twin-turbocharged V12 as the new Phantom, along with other equipment from the full-size luxury sedan such as the transmission and interior components. The new SUV is unlikely to be as competent away from asphalted roads as, for example, the Mercedes G-Class or Land Rover Defender, but, of course, Cullinan will benefit from the all-wheel drive system and, as promised in the company, can easily cope with the “soft off-road”.
“Cullinan” or “The Star of Africa” is the world’s largest uncut diamond. It was found on January 26, 1905 in South Africa in the “Premier” mine and got its name in honor of the owner of the mine, Thomas Cullinan. The mass of the stone was 3106.75 carats (621.35 grams). In 1908, Cullinan was split by the best cutter in Europe at that time, Josef Asher. It took two more years to cut the fragments from the “Cullinan”.
